Schedule of Conferences EURODIV aims at organising five Conferences: two large Conferences (the first and the fifth) and three thematic Conferences (the second, third and fourth). The schedule is as follows: First Conference “Understanding diversity: Mapping and measuring” This Conference focuses on empirical research and on the challenge of mapping, measuring and comparing diversity within and across countries, regions, cities or institutions and organisations. Held on 26-27 January 2006 and organised by FEEM, Milan, Italy Contact person: Valeria Papponetti Find out more on the first Conference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- Second Conference “Qualitative diversity research: Looking ahead” This Conference investigates cultural diversity and its management in the State and in private organizations. The focus is on the need to develop stronger concepts to think diversity and appropriate methodologies to research it.  Held on 19-20 September 2006 and organised by K.U.Leuven, Leuven, Belgium Contact person: Maddy Janssens and Patrizia Zanoni Find out more about the second Conference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- Third Conference “Diversity in cities: Visible and invisible walls” This Conference focuses on cities. The main aim is to study how cross-cultural relationships emerge and are shaped by the urban space. Held on 11-12 September 2007 and organised by UCL, London, UK Contact persons: Sandra Wallman and Susanne Kuechler Find out more about the third Conference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- Fourth Conference “Diversity in cities: New models of governance” This Conference investigates cultural diversity in the political arena. The focus is on governance as a strategy for managing i) processes of decision-making at city level and ii) the diversity that characterises contemporary society. Held on 16-17 September 2008 and organised by IPRS, Rome, Italy Contact person: Vania Stenius Find out more about the fourth Conference -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------- Fifth Conference “Dynamics of diversity in the globalisation era” The fifth Conference studies the dynamics of local cultures in response to growing international exchanges of people, goods and ideas (and vice-versa) and its implication for economic and social cohesion. It the also EURODIV Final Conference and as such it aims to conclude a five-year interdisciplinary tour on themany facets of cultural diversity.
